SWEET SIXTEEN UPSETS
#1 HOUSTON GOES DOWN TO DUKE
The second favorite to win the tournament as voted on by our entries, the Houston Cougars fell flat on Kevin Sampson’s face and got eliminated by the Dukies. Cheaters never win Kelvin. It was surprising to me
ALABAMA KNOCKS OUT #1 NORTH CAROLINA
The big upset of the night was that our first #1 seed went down to defeat. The #1 North Carolina Tar Heels got knocked out by the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide (a football school). After a first week that only saw a few upsets, this one was the third of the night. We had 36 entries that had Alabama making it to the Elite Eight. On the flip side, there were nine more entries being thrown in the fire.
ILLINOIS ELIMINATES #2 IOWA STATE
#2 Iowa State ran into a dead end and their chances of a championship ended at the hands of the #3 Illinois Fightin Illini. I don’t think Iowa State ever lead in this game and if they did it was very early. The Cyclones were known as a great defensive team, but they couldn’t stop Illinois. The were 13 entries that also came to the end of their drive as they had picked the Cyclones to win it all. 64 people picked Illinois to reach this level of the tournament.
ARIZONA IS GONE
The #6 Clemson Tigers ousted the #2 Arizona Wildcats to make it to the Elite Eight and killing 9 people’s bracket along the way. There were 2 Wizards out of your 178 entries that picked Clemson to advance this far. Those to Einstein’s were:
