Day One Tidbits
Here are my observations after Day One of the Shootout.
#14 Oakland had the biggest upset of the first day by knocking out #3 Kentucky. There were 3 people correctly pick that game.
Kevin Knapp 3, Ally Carmichael, Everett Carmichael
We don’t count 8 vs 9 games here, but there were 4 games where the lower seeds beat the higher seeds. Those winners were Oakland, Duquesne, North Carolina State, and Oregon. There were 12 people that got 3 out of 4 correct. They were:
Eric Carmichael, Packer Cox, David Gammache, Wes Herndon,
Cristin Hiatt, Lindy Hobbs, Kevin Knapp 3, Sarah Nash,
Delmar O’Donnell, Alec Robillard, Kris Smithson 3, and Troy Willis
Out of 16 games played, our best was for those of us that picked 13 of those correctly. They were:
Susan Becker, Steelskins 4 Gammache, Cristin Hiatt, Cody Kersten,
Alexander Morris 3, Antonio Morris, Fox Mulder, Nolan Painter,
Ed Schmitt 1, 2, and 6 and Don Smithson 2
And then there were those that didn’t have such a good first day. These folks only picked 7 of the 16 games correctly on day one. For those mathematically challenged, that’s less than 50%. Maybe invest in a coin flip method next time.
Shooter Flatch, Zoie Gammache, Steely Gammache, and Maxwell Smith
Shooter and Zoie did pick one of the upset games. In addition, there were 12 others that are hiding in the bushes as they only got eight (50%) of the games correct.
